Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.

To proclaim freedom for those who are trafficked! Freedom for the men who are buying sex!

And to protect the freedom of those who could be victims!

In Europe alone, officials estimate that more than 200,000 women and girls – on-quarter of all women trafficked globally – are trafficked out of Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet republics each year. Most end up working as enslaved prostitutes.

Freedom61 is fighting Human Trafficking trough the following areas:

- Reaching out the girls in prostitution on the street. There are a few area’s in Riga with street prostitution. We are reaching out to these girls to let them know that they are not forgotten. We build relationship with them so if they are ready to step out of this world, they know that we are there to help them.

- Going out on the streets to reach out to “the Johns” (men who are buying sex) in Old Town Riga! We are talking with them and to let them know that most of the girls working as prostitutes in the clubs and escort services in Riga are forced and enslaved. To challenge them, because a story makes a person.

- Prevention. Going into schools and orphanages to tell what Human Trafficking is, what the dangers are and most importantly to learn how to protect them self.

- Raise awareness. Latvians need to know what’s going on and what they can do! We speak at churches, youth groups etc., to raise awareness and to see change in Latvia.
