BIOGRAPHY

The band Xenos was formed in the year 2000 and has become one of the most well known Christian music bands in Latvia.

Two years in row (1999, 2000) Xenos leader, Santa was responsible for organizing summer outreaches for Musicians Summer of Service, (YWAM Montana) music band called TAP. During these TAP concerts, Santa and her friend Sandis did some songs during the break, in order to have some songs in the local language,...and that is where it all started. The next year they became a full band that began to do concerts all over Latvia. It was during the time when Christian rock music did not really exist in Latvia and Xenos had the privilege to be one of the first bands playing in different traditional churches, youth groups and church organized events that were starting to take place.

Xenos vision was for their music to be heard also outside of the church walls, so they have been playing concerts in schools, pubs, youth camps, national festivals and competitions etc. The band has done concert tours in Scandinavia and the USA, and has taken part in international christian festivals SOZO (Hungary), and VIKING FESTIVAL (Norway). In 2006 Xenos had a nationwide advertised concert tour in 7 of the larger cities in Latvia.

SONGS ON RADIO

Xenos songs are played on most Latvian radio stations and various songs made it to the popular SWH top 40 weekly countdown:

The song Falling in Love reached the # 2 position,

The song Ka Tu Ta Maki? made it to # 5

The song Baby to #6.

In 2007 Xenos was anounced to be # 5 for the year.

In 2008 radio single Udens(Water)was # 1 for four weeks in one of the regional Radio stations.

February 2009 Xenos released their new radio single: Vai tu zini, kas ir milestiba?(Do you know what love is?) and the first music video witch is shown on the Latvian music channel. This single reached #4 on Latvian Radio.

Xenos music is fun, challenging and encouraging. They emphesize true values of life and talk about their faith in Christ.

To encourage people to enjoy life by taking responsibility for their actions. To share the message of Christ and taking people into a deeper relationship with their Creator.

Santas story of birthing and maintaining the band Xenos is one I tell as I teach in music schools around the world. She is a true example of how God works through those who trust Him. Xenos has the art to talk about daily, complicated life issues in a simple way through their music. There is a feeling that they talk about things they are passionate about and there is no lack of musical experience. The lead vocalist, Santa, has a joyful, energetic, and melodic voice and is a great signature for Xenos. It has an earthy aliveness, similar to Avril Lavigne. Joy about life and music also comes from instrumental parts of the songs and the band effectively refreshes the common dry song form, verse-chorus, with rich, ingenious musical interludes and contrasting melodies. Xenos romantic songs dont have unnecessary fluff, but deeper meaning that make a person listen more carefully. A lot of work has been put into development and dynamics of the songs as well as into colorful harmonies and timbre. Also, a rich addition is other known Latvian musicians participation in their new album. After listening to Xenos CD I cant help but delightfully ask the band with their own words that they chose for the name of this album: How do you do that?

The band Xenos is talented, young musicians who are united with excitement and love for music and faith in Jesus Christ. The bands music is melodic guitar rock with the features of alternative rock and grunge. Xenos music has a clear melodical line and the lyrics are easy to understand. Their Christian faith is clearly testified through their music and is a powerful message that reaches the hearts of people with the gospel. In this postmodern society when youth are offered so many truths, Xenos songs are a light that enlightens them with the true values of life.
